Growing TOO Fast!!

Dear Maizy,

I have SO much to write about!  I feel behind in my blogging.  So, on Friday February 18th at 9 a.m. was your 6 month check-up with Dr. Palmieri (your pediatrician).  We woke up, got you dressed all cute for the doctor's visit and went on our way.  You were in a great mood and I was in an even better one - I took the day off work!! YAY!!! So that I could be part of the event and not have to rush to work after. We got to the doctor's, checked in and had to take your cute outfit off to go weigh you.  The nurse of course commented on how cute and happy you were.  We weighed you and you weighed in at 13 pounds and 8.8 ounces and 24 inches long!!!  You are growing SO big and fast.

Then the doctor came in to talk to us.  She said that although you are small for your age, you are very proportional, healthy and right on track with your development.  She commented on how adorable and happy you are.  She said "I wish you guys could stay and play all day, but today is my busiest day yet. I  am seeing 29 children today, a record since a doctor called in, but most of the children are sick, so it's good you're here first. Just hurry and get out of here so you don't get sick."

She gave me props for still breast feeding you and said that is why you have never been sick.  She also said to your dad and I, "this has been a real enjoyable baby for you, hasn't she!?!"  That to me was a HUGE compliment, not only do I admire and adore your doctor, but for her to notice and comment on that I was completely flattered.

Your doctor listened to your heartbeat and watched you move around and said you were perfect!  Then we had to get your vaccines, so we walked over to get your shots, it's the same cute girl that does it every time.  I can never watch!  I just want to cry for you. You got three shots, 2 in the left and one in the right.  SAD!!!!

We left there and headed down to the health clinic to get your flu shot since the doctor's office was out and Dr. Palmieri highly recommended that you get one. We got there and  the 90 year old nurse called our name for our turn.  I should have requested another nurse since this one was SO old and was shaking - making your father and I very nervous!  She got the needle out and I saw the size of that thing and turned my head!! Since my head was turned I didn't see her poke you TWICE!!!! Ouch!! She missed the first time and had to poke your little chubber leg again.  I bet your dad would have slapped her silly if he could have.  When your dad told me what happened I was SO sad for you. Sorry baby girl!  Now I know to go with my first instinct and request another nurse!!

Then we left the clinic and went to Britton's for breakfast.  You fell asleep on the way to the restaurant.  We were quite worried you wouldn't be feeling so good when you woke up.  Holy Cow!!  We couldn't have been more wrong!!  You were in a SUPER happy mood and was jumping about and showing off for the patrons of the restaurant.  Even grown men were making googily eyes and talking baby talk to you - you have this affect on people.  I love that people compliment on your cuteness and that you share and spread your contagious happiness everywhere you go, but I must say that it's hard to enjoy our meals sometimes when people hover over our table to get closer to you and ask a million questions about you, it's pretty funny!!  I can only relate it to a famous person and the paparazzi.  You Grandma Shelly and I joke that if someone really follows through and kidnaps you (people joke about it all the time) I would have no idea where to look first!  The crazy lady at Wal-Mart, the server at Britton's, my co-workers wife, family members, and the list just keeps on growing!! Ha ha ha!!

We had a great day together!!  At one point you did feel a little warm, a side effect from the shots, so we gave you some Tylenol and you took a nap then we played the rest of the day!!  You didn't seem too affected by the shots.  I loved taking the day off to be with you!! It was a fantastic day!

You just amaze me with your kindred spirit, beautiful smile and big, beautiful, curious eyes that are discovering this crazy world!!  I love you more than anything. I can't believe I had to wait 29 years to meet you!

Love you!!

Love,
mommy

You got it!!

Dear Maizy,

We try to get your milestones on video if we can catch it in time.  This is you on Saturday February 19th crawling around the floor. You are getting better and better each day on your crawling, you still manage to maneuver and get where you want to go!  I love and adore your determination and the noises you make - I can't get enough of your little voice.

Love Always and Forever!

Our Wonderful V-Day Celebration!!

Dear Maizy,

Here are the pics from our over night Valentine's Day celebration at the hotel. We were also celebrating your dad's birthday and your 1/2 birthday with a delicious dinner of steak and lobster.  Your father and I decided that a lovely dinner at home to celebrate V-Day and his birthday is going to be a tradition - this is year 2 for us.  We also joked, although we hope it's true, that you'll choose dinner with us on V-Day rather than some lame boy that wants to take you out. Ha ha ha!! Too bad that you could not partake in the V-Day/Birthday Fancy Dinner but next year my door you will be able to share the goods. We also decided that because of you this was the best Valentine's EVER!!!!  We really love and cherish the moment we're together as a family! You are such a delightful baby and always entertain us!

Enjoy the pics!

Love you!!

mom

SAD

Dear Maizy,

Your Aunt Brittany and Patrick moved back to Seattle yesterday.  I want to cry just thinking about it because I don't think it's really sunk in yet that they are gone.  You adored Britt and she you!  The sad thing is I don't think I have any pics of the two of you.  Lesson learned here:

PLEASE ALWAYS HAVE A CAMERA WITH YOU - IF NOT YOU MAY REGRET IT.

I love my sister and I think about all the good times we've had growing up and even being grown ups.  I don't think about it a ton because I'm not a huge planner, but I really like the idea of you having a brother or sister.  Your Grandma Shelly wants you to be an only child but I don't think I could do that to you when I know how much joy a sibling can bring. Note: Not every moment with a sibling is great, but you always have a guaranteed friend in the world!

I guess we'll see what the future has in store for us kiddo.

I plan on us going to visit Britt and P this year sometime or at the very latest next year.  They will be residing in Seattle for the most part and that is my favorite city that I have visited so far.  If we could live there we would!

Well I am trying not to be too sad but I miss my sister, your Aunt and one of my best friends!

I will be here for you when you are sad!

Love you!

Mom

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

Dear Maizy,

Today is your 1st Valentine's Day! AND it's officially your 6 month old birthday! AND it's Daddy's 34th birthday too!!  What an exciting day!?!?!

We had a fabulous weekend.  Friday you were with Aunt Britt and P all day.  Your dad got home before I did and we just hung out, it was lovely!  Saturday we woke up got all ready for the day and went to the hotel where we were going to spend the night. (pics to come of our adventure)

Your dad knew we were going somewhere over night but he didn't know where.  We packed all our stuff in the car, went to the grocery store and bought stuff for dinner and then went to the hotel room.

We checked in and the room was really nice.  It had a nice kitchen and a nice big bed for all of us.  We brought your baby Einstein so that you would be entertained while we made dinner!  You were entertained until it was time to eat!! ; )

We went on a fun walk around the hotel and checked out the pool and slide.  We went into the arcade room to check it out and it was SO noisy that you started to cry - poor baby girl!

We just relaxed, watched a little t.v., ate delicious food and played!!  It was fantastic!! You entertained us for quite some time!!  It was very memorable.  You almost crawled!  You know how to crawl backwards just great - you're almost there!

Unfortunately, we had to check out Sunday afternoon.  We went home and it was SUCH a lovely day we got our walking shoes on, loaded you in your stroller and went on a little walk. You really seemed to enjoy it.

Then you and I got ready and went up to Grandma Donker's.  Grandma Shelly, Alexia, Uncle Chad, Aunt Laurie and Grandpa Donker were all there.  Holy Crap!  You got spoiled for V-Day!  Your Grandma's love to shower you with gifts.  You got 6 pairs of pajamas, a singing stuffed elephant, 3 other stuffed animals, a couple of teether toys, a toy cell phone and a tray for your bumbo chair.  We played and had a great time.  You were in a terrific mood and was lovin' seeing all the new faces and playing!!

You are SO much fun. Then we got home - daddy missed us! Had dinner, played, watched a movie and zonked out!

Thanks for the fabulous weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I love you!

You did it again!!

Dear Maizy,

You did it again!  You gave me a WONDERFUL weekend!  I just love you SO much and love watching you learn new things. Friday night after work I got home and was SO excited to be home and know that we got to spend all weekend together.  Friday we got you dressed all warm and cute in your little pink bear jumper.  You look SO adorable in it.  We went to Aroma in Draper for dinner.  When we got seated there was a little girl at the table next to us.  She turned around and just stared your dad and I down the whole time.  She would not smile, it was kind of hilarious.  She was a pretty cute little girl, she had nothing on you of course.  Then we got you out of your car seat once you started fussing and Oh My Heck!!  When that little girl saw you her little face lit up and she started smiling!!  She was really happy to see another baby!  You were cute with her.  You kept smiling and you two did a stare down, it was really entertaining to watch you two interact.  Maizy, you are SO beautiful and have this really contagious smile.  Everyone we come in contact with comments on what a doll you are.

After dinner you fell asleep on our way to Grandpa Frank's so your father and I went hot tubbing!  We hot tubbed for about 15 minutes - Oh it felt SO nice!!  Then you woke up.  I told your dad to stay in the hot tub and enjoy while I fed you - not much he can do to help in that whole process.  I was super sleepy and relaxed.  We hung out there for another 1/2 hour or so, then we went home and we all slept well.

Oh! Friday afternoon Grandma Shelly went and got your crib off layaway and delivered it.  We may wait to set it up until we move!  But you will have a "big girl" bed to sleep in. Currently you sleep with me every night.

Saturday morning we kind of slept in and bummed around for a while.  Then your dad decided to take a nap and you and I didn't want to sleep, so I got you dressed all cute and warm and out we went.  I put you in your Baby Bjorn (the thing I wear across my chest and you sit in)  and we went to Sweeth Tooth Fairy Bake Shop.  I got a cupcake and a soda - it's our secret, but I did give you a taste of my cupcake!  I love that Baby Bjorn, it's so fun to carry you around that way and I love having you so close to me!!  Then I put you in the car and you fell asleep, so I drove around for a while and looked at houses and places to rent.

You woke up and we went to Village Inn to visit Aunt Brittany at work.  All of her co-workers just adore you.  They all came over and said hi and talked to you for a bit, it was really adorable!  You were in a great mood since you had just taken a nap and were super smiley.  We were there for at least an hour.  You are into EVERYTHING now and you are so FAST with those little hands of yours!  You try and grab everything!  It cracks me up!!  I just enjoy being with you every minute I can.

Then we went home and hung out with daddy.  We just bummed around and got take out from Panda Express.  We watched a movie and went to bed.  Overall, it was a great day!

Sunday we woke up and you and I showered together for the first time.  You and I usually take baths but your dad suggest I shower with you like he does.  I just get nervous thinking about holding you in the shower because I'd worry that I'd drop you.  Well I tried it anyway and you are so relaxed and enjoy the shower that you don't squirm at all.  I really enjoyed showering with you! You like the water and the way it kind of tickles your head and belly - super cute!!!   Then we got dressed and dropped you off at Grandma Annette's while your dad and I joined Patrick and Grandpa Frank at Club 90 to watch the Super Bowl.  We missed you like crazy and I kept talking about you.  Your dad called to check on you and was told that you cry a lot!  This made us feel bad that you weren't happy. We have just come to the conclusion that me and your dad rock and you would rather be with us than anyone else - completely understandable!!  The feeling is mutual babe!

This weekend you had a little hoarse voice and ran a little warm so we gave you some Tylenol on Saturday and you slept for quite a while, but after that you seemed much better.  You are discovering your voice more and more.  You talk and laugh a lot more!!  You are continuing to learn how to crawl but you go backwards but you've got the concept down.  You are starting to eat some solid foods everyday. You had bananas and sweet potatoes this weekend!  You are fun to feed and watch eat!

Love you!!

Thanks again!

mom

What fun we have!?!?!

Dear Maizy,

I had a wonderful weekend and it was all because of you, thank you!  Friday your Aunt Brittany and Uncle Patrick watched you all day while your dad and I were at work.  They said you were really good.  Apparently you are really fond of Patrick and he you!  I got home first.   I picked you up from Grandpa Frank's house, too you home, played for a minute and gave you a bath!  You are SO cute and fun to give baths too.  You insist on eating the wash cloth every time, it's truly adorable!!  Then after we just played and hung out since I missed you all day!!

Saturday you father and I went up to Park City for a Sundance Film and a little dinner.  You went to Great-Grandma Donker's where she, Grandma Shelly and Grandpa Donker watched you.  Your dad and I missed you like crazy and kept saying throughout the night "I wonder what Maizy is doing right now!?!"  We had a great time out and the film was fantastic.  We went to pick you up after dinner and heard all about your night.  All you did and wanted to do was play.  There are lots of cute toys at Grandma's for you to play with from the other grand kids.  The minute we got there I got scolded for giving you green poop (it's my fault!?! go figure), not having you layered in shirts and you weren't wearing a hat in Winter!  Oh I am the worst mother ever!!!  Well we got out of there in a hurry, came home and played and went to bed.

Sunday your dad had to work so it was just you and me kiddo.  We had house guests so I got us out of the house as soon as possible.  We went to Chili's for lunch with Tresa.  You were a doll!!!  People kept commenting on how small and cute you are.  You were super handsy!  At one point you grabbed my beer and spilled it all over us!!  I just laughed.  You are SO fun to take places.  I just watch your big beautiful eyes look around and take it all in.  After lunch you fell asleep in the car, so I drove around for a few then Aunt Britt called, so we went over and visited with her.  I fed you and you took a mini nap and then we played!!!  I put you in the laundry basket and you really seemed to enjoy that.  We hung out there for a while.  Then your dad got home from work about 7pm, so I took you home since your dad missed you all day and I went to dinner at Village Inn with Patrick and Grandpa Frank.

It really was a nice weekend.  I just love every minute I get to spend with you.  Mondays are always hard for me.  This last week you starting say "baaa baaa ba baaa" it was really cute to see and listen to. You discovered your B's.  You also tried carrots - didn't like those too much and applesauce which I guess you took a liking too.  You have also taken a liking to the cartoon character, Dora the Explorer.  We discovered this when we went to a party and it was on for the kids there.  Then I turned it on for you on NetFlix and you were screaming with excitement.  I went to the store and bought you a dvd of hers to watch when you go to Granadma's house.  It is a blast to watch you while watching Dora.  You get SO excited and scream at the t.v., it cracks us up!!  I just love your darling personality.

Your dad fed you banana yesterday and you really liked it.  When I got home from work your dad held the banana while you tried to devour it.  You were putting both your arms out trying to grab it, it was SUPER adorable and fun to watch.  You just crack your father and I up!!  You are starting to talk more and more.  You love playing with your toes and putting your foot in your mouth.  You continue to put everything you get your hands on in your mouth, it can be frightening at times as a parent because we worry about the germs and if it's a possible choking hazard - things you don't quite understand at the moment! ; )

Thank you for being so fun and great.  I am the luckiest girl in the world!!

Love you!!

Love,
Mother
