All about you!

Dear Maizy,

I love everything about you!!  You make my heart smile more than you'll ever know.  You do something that cracks me up everyday!! You have the most contagious smile.

You are really starting to hate your car seat!  It's super sad.  It makes traveling not fun at all especially when you are in the back by yourself and I am driving and there is nothing I can do to help you!  One of us still always sits in the back with you, so what!?!?

So all about you......................

......You have the cutest tush I've ever seen.

......You are totally digging Pepperidge Goldfish Crackers.

......You are taking a strong interest in your books and your dolly's.

......We are teaching you to blow kisses, you end up making out with your hand and it's one of the most fantastic things I've witnessed.

.....You will randomly open mouth kiss me on my mouth and it makes me smile.

.....Your hair is the most beautiful golden color.  It shimmers in the sun and is starting to curl in the back - you may hate me for this later.

.....You have tonz of clothes and look darling everyday!!!

.....Your room is finally coming together and you are really enjoying being in "your" room to play.

......You sleep like a mad man.  It's hilarious.  I go in your room to check on you and am always surprised to seeing what position or end of the crib you're in.

.....You are really starting to get to know your Grandma's and are showing your affections towards them - super cute!!!

.....You enjoy seeing your reflection in the mirror and will makes faces, it's hilarious and super beautiful to witness.

.....You get "tired eyes" and fight every minute of it.

.....You just maybe might have a temper on you.

.....You are thought about a thousand times, if not a million times a day and that is just by me!!

.....You are definitely the most beautiful baby in the world.

.....You are super funny and already show signs of a terrific sense of humor.

.....You bring tears to my eyes when I think about how blessed I am to know you, love you and have cared for you for one year now.

.....You are the most loved baby that I know of.

.....You are mine.  Forever.

Love you!!

Weekend Update!!!

Dear Maizy,

Today is really my Monday since I had yesterday off - one benefit for working for a bunch of mormons.  I despise Mondays and even if they fall on a Tuesday because it's time to go back to work and that means I am not with you - boooooooo!!!

I L.O.V.E.  spending as much time with you as I can.  My mom said this will change when you are around age 10 but until I see what she is talking about I will continue to cherish our moments together.

Thursday June 21st I got home from a long day at work followed by a hair appointment. Oh and I went out the night before with your father, so I was SLEEEEEEEPY!!!  Your dad went to work for a few so it was just you and me baby.  I was on the couch and fell asleep for what I thought was a minute but obviously it had to be 5 or so.  Rango the movie was not appealing to you but your can of formula surely was.  I woke up to your smiling face waking me up looking like this

I started laughing instantly, well, actually after I found out what it was, then I laughed.  It was all over the carpet, your outfit and your face.  Formula mixed with baby drool is one of the stickiest things on the planet!!!  I was still kind of groggy.  I took your clothes off, took you to the sink to wash and then who am I kidding!?!?  This girls needs a bath a.s.a.p.  In the bath you went.  I love you!!

Friday my car broke down on my lunch break so that night we hung out with Grandma for a few after she picked us up, we dropped her off and peeled out in her car.

Saturday we had biscuits and gravy for breakfast compliments of your father.

Sunday we had a bbq with the fam up at Grandma Shelly's.

Monday I had the day off - YAY!!!!  We played and ran errands all day.

Thanks for a wonderful weekend!!
Love you!!!

Park Silly

Dear Maizy,

I LOVE you!!!  Friday after work I got home and we hung out for a minute then we headed down to Sandy to run a few errands and try a new restaurant, but wouldn't you know it - the restaurant was closed for the evening!! UGH!!!  So we got Del Crapo for dinner, went home, ate and went to bed.  On Friday nights I am always so pooped!!!

Saturday we woke up cleaned and visited with Grandpa Frank. He stopped by our place after work.  Then your dad went and picked up your brother.  Cameron hadn't seen you since Christmas time. Grandpa left and the boys got back.  You loved seeing Cameron and he loved seeing you.  You have changed so much since he saw you last.  Now you aren't so fragile, have a voice of your own and are walking everywhere!!

We just hung out, had BBQ for dinner, watched movies.

Then Sunday morning we got ready for the day and headed to Park City to meet my friend Sara and her family to go to lunch and the Farmers Market.  We had a great time!!!
It was the way there that you weren't too happy about!!  I felt your pain.

Lunch was yummy and you were cracking us all up!!  See.............................

After lunch we went to the market part.  It was a blast, but it was so bloody hot!!  It was hard to find relief from the sun!!!  You had the most darling outfit on, it was one I bought while you were in my belly!!  You looked adorable!!

After a good few hours up there we headed home.  We all took naps, ate dinner, played and went to bed!!

This weekend you walked around a lot saying "bo, bo, bo" and making the "o" shape with your mouth, it was really quite cute and fun to watch!!  You are SO entertaining.

You no longer crawl you WALK!!!!  You are so fun and just so full of personality. At Farmers Market  Sara and I were standing in line to get a drink.  I was holding you and the man in front of us turned around and was saying how cute you are.  He was right up in our face.  Sara thought that he was going to kiss you!!! Ha ha ha!!  I told her I wouldn't be surprised!!

I can't get over how much you learn, change and grow.  I see you everyday so I don't notice as much until someone that hasn't seen you for a while points it out.  You now have 4 teeth on the top and 2 on the bottom.  Your favorite food is mashed potatoes and fruit baby food.  You are a very adventurous eater for a baby.  You usually eat what your father and I eat - halibut, steak, cheesy potatoes, noodles, rice and mango sorbet.  You have a very extensive palette for a young baby!! Since we dine out often you are really good in restaurants.

You will be one year old next month!! Can you believe it!?!?!  It's gone by so fast for your father and I.  We have enjoyed every single minute of it.  It's definitely been a huge and wonderful life experience for me. I have grown as a person, felt things I have never felt, not only physically but mentally, it's crazy how much love I have in my heart for you and your father. I am so blessed to be your mom and I want to do the best "job" possible. Being a mother is a lot of work, but I love it all and the rewards are amazing!!!  It also helps a ton having your father as helpful, understanding and loving as he is. I couldn't be a good mom if I didn't have a great partner.  I feel for single moms.  Not only do they have to do all the work by themselves, but sometimes they may not have someone to share all the great milestones with.

Receiving compliments on how beautiful, happy and fun you are is the biggest compliment of all to me.  I see other babies and very, very rarely are they as happy as you! And of course not nearly as beautiful.

I hope you had a great weekend too!!

Love you!!

mommy

Too Fast for your Old Ma!!

Dear Maizy,

You are walking like CRAZY!!!!!  It's the coolest thing to watch especially since you are so petite.  I tell people you are walking and they are like "No WAY!!!"  Most babies of friends don't or didn't walk until they were 15 monthsish (yes, it's a word, my word) and were much bigger than you.

Last night I picked you up from Grandma Annette's.  She, Sienna, Aunt Deb and Aunt Jenn watched you while your dad and I worked.  When I got there you didn't even acknowledge my presence.  You were too busy walking and playing!!  We laughed because I picked you up anyway and you squirmed right out of my arms!!

Aunt Jenn put this darling little "pony" in your hair!!  I got the biggest kick out of it, so cute!!

We hung out there for a minute and headed home.  You slept on the way and for a bit when we got home but when you wok up it was none stop until you went to bed about 11ish.  You were cracking me and your dad right up!!!

You were yelling, making noises, talking to your baby doll, you even hopped off the couch and was cracking yourself up too!!  We just watched you play and was loving every minute of it.

Thanks for bringing so much happiness and smiles into my life.

Love you!

Mother May I??

Dear Maizy,

We are taking you to the zoo today.  I am SOOOOOO freakin' excited!!  See the thing is I love the zoo and always have.  I even would go alone sometimes just because I loved it so.  People say it's sad to see the animals all caged and such, yes, I get that, so why not go visit them and cheer them up!?!?  Plus at least in the zoo they get 3 square meals a day, have friends and a safe habitat from it's predators - duh people!?!  Anyway,  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.  I get the biggest kick out of watching your face light up at things you enjoy. I am working half day then we are going!! YAY!!!

So in my way to work today I was thinking about what to write about on your blog and I thought why not myself?  I will write about me!!

I remember being a kid and realizing my mom had a name and it wasn't "mom" it was Shelly -weird!?!?  There is a fine line when becoming a mom.  You have to give yourself to your family but yet still remain an individual.  Either people give themselves all too entirely to their families that they aren't even their own person OR they don't give themselves at all and suck as parents (unfortunately I see this one the most).  Well I am striving to have a good balance for all of us.

I want to start off by saying that being your mother is the greatest privilege I've ever been given.  I am thankful everyday!!  I have known I always wanted to be a mother  and here I am! Besides being a mother I am also a friend, sister, daughter, granddaughter, cousin, employee, niece and partner to your father.

I admire each role I have and play each of them a little bit differently, some roles are obviously more fun that others - hence the employee role!!  I want to play them all well, but I want to play the mother role the greatest!!

As a child I remember finding out things about my parents and their favorite things became my favorite things.  For example,  my dad's, your Grandpa Frank, favorite color was green therefore my favorite color was green for a long time! Now it's red!  My mom's favorite earrings would become my favorite too and I would wear them any chance I got - just imagine the 80's so they were big and bright!!!

I just feel like we sometimes know so little about our parents that what we do know we cherish and hold on to that information and this is even more so with our grandparents.  My great grandma Eleanor Ferguson rarely opened up and told us anything personal, but when she did I cherished that information I longed for.

Anyway,  I will just tell you a few things about me. I LOVE listening to my music loud in the car.  I LOVE dancing!!  Sugar cookies and smores are my favorite desserts ever!!  I love listening to classic rock but hip hop is obviously the best to dance too.  I LOVE laughing so hard that my stomach hurts!!  My sister makes me laugh pretty hard and so does your father.  I LOVE shopping and even though we are told not to touch things at stores I have to touch everything!!!  My dream job is to be a social worker.  I want to help people!!! I really enjoy cooking fresh vegetarian dishes and making my own pasta!!  I want us to go to Italy together as a family I know we'd have a blast.  I hate bugs and swimming in lakes!!!  I love Julie Roberts and every movie she's been in.  Right now in music I LOVE Pink,  Nightmare on Wax, The Black Keys, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. I am sometimes shy!  I don't like speaking in front of groups of people.  Cherry Coke is my favorite drink and so is good sweetened coffee.

I want you to find you own favorites in life and I want to know what they are.  I hope we always have a great relationship and that you trust and confide in me.  I never had good communication with my parents and I want you and I to.  I see how other people parent and even how your cousins are parented and I want to do the complete opposite!!!  I just want to be the best mommy for you.

I Love you Maizy Marie!!! Thank you SO much for coming into my life!!!

Love,
mom

You on our way home from the hospital!!  Look how tiny!?! And sad.  Love you!

Sugar Cookies!!

Dear Maizy,

You smell so sweet just like my all time favorite treat - SUGAR COOKIES!!!  Don't think that I am weird and you will definitely understand when you have something that you love as much as I love you - I love the way you smell.  When you wake up in the mornings and I am fortunate enough to be there I kiss you and just smell you.  You smell SO sweet and yummy!!  I just love you!!  This morning we woke up and had to get ready to take you to Grandma Donker's while your dad worked today and I LOVE seeing your face in the mornings, it's so precious, sweet and makes me smile!!

Thanks for being super amazing and smelling so sweet!!

Love you!

mommy

You eating your lunch!! Love you!!

4th of July weekend!!!

Dear Maizy,

It was your first 4th of July and what a great one it was!?!?   I had SO much fun with you.  Friday night after work we rushed down to your Uncle Richard's house for the Annual 4th of July Parade and BBQ.  We got there and got all setup for the parade.  You LOVED it.  There was tonz of kids, candy and noises!  You weren't scared of anything.  I thought for sure that the police and fire engine sirens would scare you, but they didn't.  After the parade we ate dinner.  You weren't too interested in eating as much as playing and climbing around!!  You looked darling in your red outfit.  You would wave selectively at people and smiled a ton!!

Friday we got home and went to bed.  Saturday we woke up hung out.  You had your new Dora jammies on that Grandma Shelly bought for you!

Then we eventually got ready for the day and we headed to Sandy for your first birthday party.  It was for my friends Kristy's son Gavin. He was turning 1!!  We didn't get to stay long since we were going back home to watch the fireworks.  At the party you played in the kiddie pool for a bit then we went home ate some food and went up to Eagle Ridge Golf Course in North Salt Lake to the spot that your father reserved to watch the fireworks.  You were being so cute and wouldn't you know it - my camera died the minute we got up there!! UGH!!! Your first firework show was by far my favorite!!  Watching your face light up was very memorable and super awesome for me.

We got home and went to bed.  Sunday we didn't have any plans!!!  It was a first and it was awesome!!!  Your dad went to the store and got you your first pool.  We all got in our suits, filled your pool up, threw some toys in there and played in the water for a few. It was 101 degrees on Sunday!! YIKES!!!  Needless to say I did join you in your pool.

Sunday was a great day!!  Monday was the 4th of July!!!  YAY!!  We woke up made crepes, got ready for the day and went to Grandma's for a bbq.  It was a good time and we finally got to see Aunt Brittany and Patrick!!!!  When we got home you caught a second wind and was just busy running and playing until late into the evening. Your dad gave you a mohawk and you would hardly hold still for us to capture a picture. I sure love you, your energy, your smile, your spirit and your mohawk of course!!

Thank you!  Thank you!  For the wonderful, fun filled weekend.  I love you with all that I am.

Love,
mom
