Life According to My iPhone

Dear Maizy,

Grandma Shelly took me on a date night Tuesday night.  She took me to a fantastic dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse then we went to see In the Heights at Pioneer Theater.  We had the best time!!  It was one of those nights that I didn't want to end.

You stayed home with daddy and it sounds like you two had a blast as well.  When Grandma dropped me off she came in to say hi to you.  You two are so cute together and you are each other's favorite person!!

Yummy Harvest Salad! It had everything delicious in it

My petite filet that came out SIZZLING in butta!

I got the flourless chocolate cake.  Grandma got the berries 'n cream.  Both were super delish!

You showing Grandma how your alphabet game is done.

Ha ha ha!  You in Grandma's boots.  Classic!

You can get around in those things just fine.
Cutest girl ever!
Your angel Halloween costume Grandma got you!  Too dang cute!!

Cheese!

I love you babe!  Thanks for always being so happy, cute, fun and lovable!

Poor Girl!

Dear Maizy,

Last night we had a fantastic night of hanging out together.  The three of us were in the living room all night just talking, jumping and playing puzzles.  At one point we were all doing our own thing - me reading a magazine, dad flipping through the channels and you playing on the iPad.  I  was just loving every minute of it and admiring my most darling family.

It really hit me that it doesn't matter where we live, what we live in (little house or big house), what we are doing,  we all know that we have and love each other and that is priceless.  I was thinking although I dream about a huge house one day I don't think I'd like it - I like us all being in the same room.

Then I saw this saying and I LOVE it!  It's SO true!

Being a family means you are part of something very wonderful.  It means you will love and be loved for the rest of your life!  No matter what.

You and your dad give my life meaning.  I love you both so very much!  I love that we have a happy home full of laughs, smiles, tickle wars, yummy food, lots of dance parties, games and cuddles.  I pray every day that I will always be able to remember the smell of your hair and .the sound of your laugh.

Last night we all went to bed about 10:30ish after you had a nice long bath. I rocked you and read you two "stories".  Then I went to bed and crashed!  Then about  2:30 a.m.  I heard you screaming from your room, it woke me up from a deep sleep.  Then as I got closer to your room you were yelling"it hurts, it hurts!"  I could smell a funky smell so I thought maybe it was a messy diaper, but it wasn't that.  I looked at your face and you poor, poor thing!  You had throw up! It was all up your nose, in your hair, all over the front of you and even your long eyelashes.  SAD!!  I took my shirt off and wiped it off you the best I could.  You were still crying and saying "it hurts, it hurts!"  You were even shaking. I assume that you were sleeping and then threw up in your sleep and since it went up your nose and all over you that acid was stinging.  Ugh!  I know that feeling and it's not a good one.  I just cuddled you and was able to get you calmed down a bit.  You were also on FIRE!  I put you in our bed and dad comforted you while I got the thermometer, some water, a wet wash cloth and towels.

It was the saddest thing.  If I could have changed you places I would have.  I came back in the room, changed your diaper, washed you off with the warm cloth the best I could, then we tried to have you rinse out your mouth and took your temperature, it was 101.2!  YIKES!!!

You threw up a couple of more times and one time it was quite projectile.  Of course we had no medicine so daddy had to drive to the store.  He hurried as fast as he could.  I turned on your new Barbie movie for you,  I rubbed your head and tummy better, then daddy got back with the medicine and you took it like the champ that you are.  We finished your movie and then turned off the t.v. and we all went to sleep, by this time it was about 4:30a.m.  All I know the alarm went off way too soon and early this morning.

We had a hard time waking you up since daddy had to work we had to get you ready to go to Grandma's, but eventually you woke up and you felt great!  WHEW!  You had no more fever and you said that your tummy felt better.  I was/am SO relieved but at the same time that was weird! You were in a terrific mood this morning, talking up a storm and bouncing around.  I was starting to think last night was just a nightmare.  It wasn't.

I just want you to know that I take great pride in being your mom.  I love comforting you and making you feel the best I can.  I will always be here for you babe.  No matter how old you are I will always take care of you when you are sick - gladly.

Love you!

Glad you're better, that was awful.

Love,
mommy

Too cute

Dear Maizy,

You are just too cute for words.  I can't get enough of your smile, giggles, innocence and sense of humor.  I rush home every day to get to where ever you are (home or one of the Grandma's house).  I LOVE being with you.  You are doing something new every day and I refuse to miss out on more than I have to.

Like this for example...............................

You were taking a bath while I was cleaning the bathroom.  I look over and there you are playing with your Dora washcloth on your head like no biggie.  I cracked up instantly, took your picture and then asked you to make a funny face and you did this..................................

Does anyone get any more awesome? I think not.  You are awesome as they come babe!  I asked your dad if you have ever done this before and he said no.

You are really starting to come into your own little self.  You say "No", a lot, but it's good because you know what you want.  You talk a TON!  Which is more than amazing. All the time people assume you are older than you are when they hear you talking in full conversation.

You are really diggin' puzzles lately and make me get on my tummy to do them too.  You blow me away with how good you are at puzzles!  Sometimes, and more so when you are tired, if the puzzles don't go together like you think they should you get quite ticked off.

You are starting to play with your baby dolls more and will soothe them by patting their back and hushing them.  You also put blankies on them and try to feed them.  The other day there was some cheese smashed into the baby dolls mouth!  Ha!

You are getting better at standing your ground with older kids when they try to take things out of your hand or interrupt your playing and wanting to do it differently.  I think it's great that you are building your confidence and telling others how you feel.

You like to try to dress yourself, you love brushing your teeth without any help, you still adore Dora and Diego,  you are totally into animals, your puzzles and playing with your food.

You love apple juice and macaroni and cheese!  Popsicles are still your fave! You totally dig popcorn especially at the movie theater.

You are a good little eater at times.  Lunch seems to be your biggest meal.  if you see us eat something you want to try you say "I try, I try!"  If it's not too spicy I will give you a bite.  I love that you will at least try all kinds of food.

We're still working on the whole sharing thing and it's going pretty well.  YAY!!  We say "taking turns" instead of sharing and that seems to work much better than the "s" word.

I love taking you places, even though it can be challenging keeping you entertained or in a cart/stroller, but some many people compliment on your beauty, cuteness and smartness!  It's almost crazy how much we hear.  Actually it's not crazy, it's expected.  I mean look at you!!!

Thanks for being such a good girl!

Mom loves you!

Love,
mommy

Fun Girl

Dear Maizy,

You are my little smiley girl!  You are always smiling, laughing, looking for ways to make others laugh and just all around happy.

We had a fabulous weekend of being together, laughing, playing, going on an adventure, seeing family at a birthday party and doing puzzles!  You are really into puzzles right now and you are a pro at them!  I can't get enough of watching you concentrate - seeing that brain of yours work hard as you put puzzles together.  You are Ah-Mazing!

See........................

Saturday on our adventure.  I was craving a Nut Roll and apparently so were you!
Gorgeous girl!  You first thing Sunday morning.

Mommy's breakfast!  Nothing beats homemade tomato juice!
This is where I found you chillin' on Sunday morning!
Where's Maizy?
Just relaxin' putting on your lip gloss!

You and Megan playing.
Megan was playing quietly by herself until you snatched the watering can from her.  I hurried  inside the house to find you something else to play with, so Grandma Shelly gave me a plastic container that goes to her iron - hey it worked!  You happily obliged and gave the watering can back to Megan.  that girl didn't say a peep!  But you two were sure cute together.
Toddlers gone wild!

Teamwork.

Karis - she just adores you and was being a little mommy to you most of the day.
Grandma Shelly's infamous cupcakes. Yum!
Blake making a wish!
On our way home.  My little "angel baby".
Sweet as can be!
Evidence of a good day well spent.
Thanks for an amazing weekend babe!  I love and cherish every minute we spend together.

Love you!

Love,

Your Very Proud Mommy

State Fair

Dear Maizy,

We had to go to the Utah State Fair, we just had to!!  I love going and always have.  My agenda has changed over the years.  I used to go for the rides, then I would go with my girlfriends to flirt with boys, then I would go for the beer, then I went there on dates, then I would go for the sometimes fun concerts they'd have and now I go to take you and to people watch of course!

Thursday after work I zoomed home, picked up you and daddy and we headed to the fair to meet Grandma Shelly and Grandpa Glen.

We refused to pay for parking, so we found a spot, a very good spot we thought, on the side of the road in the neighborhood nearby.

We got into the fair park and tried to find g-ma and g-pa.  We didn't have any luck, so we just went and checked out all of the animals. You were in awe over the huge cows!! You giggled at the cute, cuddly bunnies.  Weren't shy about petting the goats.  You couldn't see enough of the pigs! I was smiling form ear to ear because you were having a great time trying to take it all in.

Then we finally found g-ma and g-pa.  Grandma couldn't wait for you to ride the pony, so that is where we headed and you rode a cute little pony compliments of Grandma and Grandpa.  You had a great time!  Dad walked right next to you while you rode the pony, Thunder, it was the cutest thing to see.

Then we decided we were all hungry.  Grandpa treated us to dinner - fries and fry sauce for you, Navajo taco for Grandma and the rest of us had bbq sandwiches! We blocked the fact that we were eating at the fair and tried to enjoy our dinner.  Whew!  We all avoided food poisoning!

We walked around some more and headed towards the "Big Yellow Slide!" You were a champ!  There was no doubt that you wanted to go down it, so we grabbed our potato sacks to slide down on and you walked all 110+ stairs to the top. While there a lady commented on how beautiful you are!  It was really sweet and we never get sick of hearing it.  You sat in dad's lap, I sat next to you guys and we held hands as we went down then you and dad got going faster than me, so off you went.  Grandma was supposed to be our picture taker but that didn't go so well.  When you go to the bottom the guy working there commented on how awesome you did!  you have no fear babe!  You said "again, again!"

Then we headed to go check out the model of hot tub Grandma and Grandpa bought.  yep, they bought their hot tub from a guy at the fair! We had to try the thing out - without water in it of course. You were all about it.  You got in it and was cracking up then asked me to get in and then we were all pretty much in there. Ha ha ha!

After that we headed to go check out the butter exhibit.  Pretty cool!! It was a sculpture made out of 700 pounds of butter.  Wow!

Then after that Grandpa was ready to go home, so they left!  We were nearing the end too.  We walked down one more aisle.  You picked popcorn as your treat!  Yum, then while we were  walking around I found $10 on the ground with no one near by I claimed it!

You decided that you were done riding in your stroller and that you wanted to push it instead.  We let you push it around, but since it was on gravel it was a little challenging and it kept getting stuck. Dad tried to help you push the stroller, but you were getting upset, so you yelled out "MICHAEL!!"  It was hilarious!! dad didn't think it was too funny and ever since then you have been calling daddy by his first name whenever you are ticked off at him!  Oops!

When we finally decided to leave we strolled to the car, it was such a beautiful evening, we got there to find a big pink slip on the windshield!!  We got a parking ticket!!  UGH!

Regardless it was a wonderful evening.

Thanks!

I love you!!

Love,
mommy
